Parenting can feel like a tightrope, and when guiding a child on the spectrum, it can be like a wobbly tightrope. As difficult as it may seem for us to guide persons on the spectrum, putting ourselves in the shoes of an aerial performer might help us capture for a moment the enormity of how they experience everyday life. Our grounding of life is a very different experience for them.
