Habits, bad and good, have to do with the space they inhabit in our consciousness. Eating chocolate is not something I have to think about; not eating chocolate cake is something I have to think about ... a lot . Repetition keeps the bad stuff going and lack of repetition keeps the good stuff from becoming second nature.
